Vintage Paper Mache Jack-o'-Lantern with Wire Handle

Regular price $92.00A true mid-century survivor: a hand-molded pulp paper mache jack-o'-lantern with its original wire bail handle. The bright orange paint fades to green at the base, and the face has painted brows and a wide, toothy grin with cut-out eyes and mouth, made to glow with a light inside.
Paper mache lanterns were made to be used and tossed, so finding one that survived decades of Halloweens is a real treat for collectors. Display it on a mantel, a console or the front hall table, or group it with candles and vintage finds for an old-fashioned Halloween vignette.
Condition: Vintage condition with honest wear consistent with age: paint loss on the nose and rim, small edge losses around the mouth, surface crazing and soft fading. The original paper face insert is not present. Please use battery tea lights only; do not use open flame.
